Flower Kids

A+ for Ava. She made it down the aisle, rounded the corner and continued handing out her flowers until they were gone...even after the ceremony had started. She was in awe of Shira in her pretty dress and so excited to be part of the day. Luca, not so much. He did as you would expect a two and a half year old little boy to do. He didn't hold flowers, clutched his Buzz Lightyear toy and whimpered his way down the aisle. It was adorable.

Last Summer Weekend

Wonderful cabin weekend.

Mema and Max came for night one, Max was thrilled with the freedom of open space but drawn to wading in mud pools and over eating long grasses.

Aunt Beth, Ben and Joe came for a visit on Saturday. Despite the mudslide that took Beth down she stayed for a few hours and can now cross that off her list of things to do only once in a lifetime :)

Friday night we had a quiet family night. Some chores, grilling out, an evening showing of Robin Hood (now the kid's favorite cabin movie) and a thrilling game of Old Maid. Good Times.

Saturday we took a long boat ride, further than we had gone before and realized that the "Avoca Bayou" as Dustin calls it is actually quite pretty when the shoreline opens up and you can see the bluffs. Sometime when the kids are not whining and we're prepared with snacks and beverages we'll take it all the way to the end...not sure how far away that is.

Saturday afternoon we had friends come out to see the cabin for the first time. Swimming, lounging, grilling, crazy kids eating blue frosting and playing croquet. It was a good time. I thought I would party like old times but ended up falling asleep even before Luca did that night. Luca, who wore the same Buzz Lightyear pajama shirt for four days straight. (minus the 8 hours after it was rinsed out and hung up to dry).

We're hoping for another good weathered weekend or two before it gets too chilly to be out in the drafty cabin and when all the mice and bats want to come in for warmth. Bleh.

Apparently four is the year of the pink, purple and princesses.

The girls were girly, Luca was Buzzlightyear and by the end of the party everyone was naked.

That is the mark of success for a good party right?

Another Daddy Cabin Weekend

I don't know how he does it by himself all weekend.

New Morning Nursery School

My friend Megan gave me this t-shirt to give to my kids. I think she found it when we cleaned out her parents house. It was her shirt from the nursery school that we both went to and that my mom ran at the time. Megan lived directly across the street from New Morning, we have a lot of good memories from way back then.

So...this shirt is from around 1980 or 1981. Crazy.

This is Megan and I - not sure how old we were here but building a snow fort outside of Megan's house with Dugeon School (where New Morning is) in the background. Check out the cool car top carrier on her parents car.

And finally, here is a picture of Megan and I last year - at Beer Fest.

Funny to see Ava in a New Morning Nursery School t-shirt and to think about all of the adventures Megan and I had at that school and on the playground growing up. Pretty cool.
