Wacky Wednesday

Throwing up two times in the middle of the night
means you can't go to school...
even if it's Wacky Wednesday.

Ava was SO SAD to miss Wacky Wednesday of Dr Seuss week.
We had her wacky outfit all picked out and
the pink hairspray purchased.
Polka dots and rainbow stripes and a fancy sparkly hat.
Kids never seem to get sick on a regular old boring school day.

We ran to Mallots pharmacy to get some essentials and
picked up a few things to make our boring day at home
a little wackier. Dustin even came home for lunch
and joined in on our not quite as much fun as school
wacky day. Ava is of course feeling better and would like
me to take her to school right now. Sorry love.
Dr Seuss books for story time for sure.

"It all began with a shoe on the wall.
A shoe on the wall shouldn't be there at all."

Lukas

my little Luca looked at this picture
of sweet baby Lukas and asked,
"why is that baby so mad?".

He is wonderfully sweet
and hilariously serious for only 2 months old.

2nd Annual Wallden Ice Fishing Weekend - Minus The Ice Fishing

There was ice, but also recent stories of ice fisherman falling in.
To appease the nervous moms (myself included)
we skipped the ice and spent the day indoors hanging out.
In this next picture you have to imagine the background music of
"I'm sexy and I know it" which is what my sweet nephew was singing
the men - Euchre as usual
5 card stud - awesome for a competitive family
I think this was Tony's favorite round
Joe learning the rule that you can't bet more than you have.
good times. maybe next year we'll fish again
instead of just drink and gamble.

Baby Ba"Luca"

Baby Beluga has always been Baby BeLuca for us,
ever since Luca was old enough to sing the words to the song.
Sometimes he wont let me sing it to him because
it's a baby song. Other times he'll snuggle up to me with
the book and request a song. Makes my heart smile
to still be able to sing to my baby.

Happy Valentines

I've never been a big fan of Valentine's Day
too much pressure to not mess up in a big way.
We usually opt out. Maybe a nice card but no
whole ooh la la schbang.

Having kids has made it more fun. I like making crafty cards,
cutting out paper hearts and glitter...lots of glitter.
We planned to drop off Luca's valentines at his preschool but
playing too hard with Charlotte today led to a late car nap.
Ava traded valentines at school and then on the ride home said
she felt like she was going to throw up.
(please be the result of too much candy and not the stomach flu)

So, instead of catching a bite out to celebrate Valentines day
we're having super romantic dinner of Tai food delivered,
cranky kids, bath time and early to bed.
Hopefully without any vomiting.

Valentines Day = just like any other day (with glitter).

Succulents

a bunch of succulents surrounded by rainbows and polka dots,
makes me smile.

Megan and Matti - I can see how this could be addictive.

this picture is from last summer,
Katie B's visit before her move out west.
love my girls.
Katie, so glad you are still Katie B even after marriage :)

Thanks for posting this picture JP!

Ava went to a super awesome birthday party today,
apparently we will also be doing face painting
for her 6th birthday party.

Who wants to volunteer to paint faces?

Valentines With Grandma

Grandma is crafty, really crafty.

The letter arrived a week prior, with a candy heart to
countdown each day leading up to Grandma and Grandpa's arrival.
Grandma showed up with several art projects including the
awesome candy holder/ place marker that Ava put
at each person's seat at the table...and each kids'
cute little photo Valentine.
(ok, I'm a little crafty too)

Thanks crafty Grandma!

School Dance

Feels Like Home

today, when I look around at the 6 baskets of unfolded laundry,
the trashed kids rooms, the large unfinished art project sprawled across a plastic table cloth, muddy paw prints from my mom's dog and the blueberry muffin crumbles all over the kitchen floor
i think...finally feels like home.
it's good to be home.
